Seriously, it might be. I watched the news this morning and  was so freaked out I couldn’t even take my mid morning nap.

Most of you have heard of the LHC by now. For those who haven’t, it is basically this huge machine, 300 feet under ground on the border between France and Switzerland that is being used to try to recreate the Big Bang so scientists can observe the God Particle which is the only elementary particle never observed by scientists.

Sounds cool, right? Heck yea! Except..wait. Some scientists are a little worried about this. Like maybe it might create black holes. Oh yea and those black holes may or may not destroy the Earth. Yay……

So back to the news. Unfortunately I cannot remember “which” news I was watching and I tried to find it on Google but had a hard time, so you will just have to trust me here. This guy on the news was talking about his concerns. Mind you, he is a scientist and a very smart and important one, at that. He said, it will take three weeks from today (9/8/08) for the LHC to get up to full blast (no pun intended). At that point, should a black hole be created, it would take 50-51 months to devour the Earth. Should it take 51 months, guess what day that is?
