I Had Something "Nice" to Say…

Even I was surprised. I watched the second part of the interview between Governor Sara Palin and Katie Couric and, I must say, Palin had some well thought out (and some not so well thought out) ideas. See the recap below:

Drilling in ANWR: Palin is for it (McCain is against it). Bad move, Palin. ANWR does hold a massive amount of oil, it is true. It is also true that ANWR is home to a vast amount of wildlife that can not sustain their current populations (already on the brink) anywhere else. You drill in ANWR, those animals will die off. It will also destroy one of the most beautiful and sacred places left in this great land. Don’t go there. There are other options.

What news does she watch/read: She wont say. Seems shady to me. Probably, she doesn’t want to suggest that she watches strictly Fox News, but meh, not too big of a deal.

Global Warming: Man made or natural? Bravo, Sara! Palin proclaimed her belief that humans have contributed to the raising temperature but not caused all of it. She brings up the incredibly valid point that our climate is cyclical. Trust me, I lived in Alaska too, we felt it more there than anywhere else in the U.S.

Abortion: Palin is pro-life (isn’t everyone, really? No one is pro-abortion!) regardless of rape, incest or any other situation. She does not believe that women should go to jail for abortions, however. She is all about abstinence only education (working out well , yea?).

Morning after pill: Not for it. She believes life starts at the moment of conception. Personally she would not participate in it…oookaaay…

Evolution: Should be taught as an accepted science principal. But believes in Creationism but does not want it taught in science classes. Alright. I get that. I think evolution should be taught in science as a “theory” and I certainly don’t want religion (of any form) taught in any public school, so I agree here.

Homosexuality: Will not judge Americans and the decisions they make? Does that mean she thinks it is a choice? Hmmm…concerning. “She happens to have made a choice” is what she said about her friend (“best friend”) who is gay. Huh. Concerning.
