Ludo has a dog walker now. Or, at least, had, I make no guarantees after my discovery on Friday. I work all day and it takes forever to get to and from work so, in an attempt to keep my little guy going, I hired a local vet tech to walk him. Sounds good, right?
Yeah. I thought so. Friday night Ludo and I were cuddled up on the couch enjoying the best parts of life (food, alcohol, and a Steve Carell movie) when he flopped onto his back and I began rubbing his belly. I look down and to my horror notice a 4in long abrasion on his chest!
I move the fur around it (to his great displeasure) and notice it is where his harness sits behind his legs…I am displeased. I have walked him with the same harness for over a year with no issues. This dog walker is clearly doing something wrong. I had to hold him down (and I mean HOLD HIM DOWN…all 90lbs of flopping, in pain, dog) while I scrubbed it clean and made sure it was just an irritation and not an actual cut.
I am going to meet with her today. I’m a little ticked off. You don’t mess with my dog. But, in the end, Ludo doesn’t seem to mind it unless I am cleaning it and it is not infected so that is what matters most. But still…

Awww, cute picture.
I don’t blame you for being angry. The walker could have, at least, told you if something out of the ordinary had happened?

Do you feed your dog from your hand? Most people think that it’s harmful, but my grams’ dog is fed from the mouth and when she escapes her fenced yard she goes to the front door and barks. I think it bonds your dog to the setting of your home. /Random thought

Ludo is both bowl and hand fed. His dinner is almost all out of my hand when I have time. I taught him that from a young age to rid him of his slight food aggression. You know – don’t bite the hand that feeds you. I find it did a lot towards our bonding. He knew for sure that I provided the food. I have seen no harm in it. I don’t see how it could be negative unless you are dealing with a dog that has serious aggression issues. But doing hand feeding before the aggression gets bad could prevent it altogether.
