His dinner is almost all out of my hand when I have time. I taught him that from a young age to rid him of his slight food aggression. You know - don't bite the hand that feeds you. I find it did a lot towards our bonding. He knew for sure that I provided the food. I have seen no harm in it. I don't see how it could be negative unless you are dealing with a dog that has serious aggression issues. But doing hand feeding before the aggression gets bad could prevent it altogether.
