Sarah Palin, the former Alaskan Governor and one time VP candidate turned Fox News pundit is on a roll these days! She just keeps up with the kind of doublthink that would make Orwell proud.

See, a few days ago Rahm Emanuel referred to liberal groups who opposed health care as “fucking retarded.” Immediately, Sarah Palin came out against him calling for President Obama to fire him for insulting a group of disadvantaged Americans (the developmentally delayed, not the Senators :) ). As the mother of a son with Downs Sydrome, she felt particularly offended by Rahm’s statement.

Fast forward to this morning on Fox News where Palin went to great lengths to support Rush Limbaugh’s use of the same term. Rush stated liberals were “retards.” After reading that quote, Sarah went on to say

They are kooks, so I agree with Rush Limbaugh. Rush Limbaugh was using satire … . I didn’t hear Rush Limbaugh calling a group of people whom he did not agree with ‘f-ing retards,’ and we did know that Rahm Emanuel, as has been reported, did say that. There is a big difference there.

Oh, ok Sarah. So the difference is that Rahm called a group of people he disagreed with “fucking retards” and Rush just called a group of people he disagreed with “retards.” So it is the swearing that you are opposed to and not the actual derogatory term? So as long as we call you retarded it is all well and good because we can claim it is satire. But if we call you fucking retarded then we are being “insensitive and indecent.”
