You know? Somewhere along the line I started thinking that 9pm was a good time for bed and 5am doesn’t feel so early anymore. I think that is how I realized I am getting older. A good friend of mine and I talk about this all the time. We are both in our early 20s (ok, closer to mid) but we are the types that stay in on Friday nights and our weekly get togethers always consist of grocery shopping!
Now, don’t get us wrong – we have fun! Sunday is my favorite day of the week because of our time together. We go shopping, catch lunch, sometimes dinner, and generally just relax and enjoy each other’s company. But how many people our age enjoy grocery shopping so much that they make it a weekly date? How many girls my age can say that they honestly do not remember the last time they spent a Friday night at a bar (wait, I do remember. It was to see some band….in like August, I think).
I’ve always been told I act older than I am, and I guess it is true. I just don’t do the party scene. I enjoy a few drinks at home with good friends and good food. Maybe a movie and dinner out.
God, I sound old!

You are old ;-)
I’m with you on the party scene. It seems like a waist of time.
BUT, you loose me with grocery shopping. I’m no fan of it!

I am not a fan of the grocery shopping – I am a fan of spending the day with my best friend. It just always includes the shopping!

I don’t know about myself aging but when ever I spend time with my parents I realize they are rocketing to elderly….ism.
Father: “*burp* Uhh, I have heart burn”
Mother: “Get some tums”
Father: ” I don’t need tums”
Father:”*burp* ahhh, it hurts”
Mother: “Do you want me to get you some tums?”
Father: “No, I’m fine”
Father: *burp* *taste* “Mmmmmm”
Mother: “Thats disgusting, I’m getting you tums”
Father: “I don’t want tums!”
Then she came back, held the bottle of tums in his face, he picked out his favorite flavors then she sat back down.

Looking back (I’m just a teeeeensy bit older than you are,) I can tell you that a lot more people *pretend* to like the party scene than actually do.
Although any time you go to a bar for the purposes of hearing some band, you have my total approval. ;-)

Riff, I am not sure I want your approval. Not sure what that might say about me! :)
But I do like going to bars to hear the music. Some friends and I had a lovely girl’s night out planned for the weekend to see this great band at a dive down the road. Good times.

Lion, you ain’t seen old. Not until you have kids.
And a mortgage.
And day care payments.
And a spouse who wants to quite their job in this sort of economy.
And a . . .
I’m not that much older than you . . . but I sure wish I could do 20 something all over again!
