Democrats in Texas ought to be ashamed of themselves! In a 10-5 vote the Texas Education Board, gave preliminary approval to change the curriculum for social studies classes across the state. The curriculum will now refer to the United States as a Constitutional Republic (untrue), highlight the religious influence of our Forefathers but neglect their strong belief in the separation of Church and State, focus on how abandoning the gold standard led to the decline in the US Dollar (untrue), and neglect to discuss much of the civil rights movement.

It isn’t that the Board of “Education” in Texas sees nothing wrong with this that bothers me so much. It is that a solid four Democrats left before voting and thus insured easy passage of these ridiculous changes. Would their votes have changed the outcome? No. But it would have been less of a landslide for the bigoted, whitewashing, fallacious Texas Republicans on the BoE.

Shame on them. Shame on anyone who voted for this. And that is exactly what those non-voting members did: they voted for this by not voting against it.

  1. You could always lead a migration of like minded persons to yourself and invade and dominate. But then, you would have to live in Texas. That doesn’t work for everyone.

Hmmm…I am not really a Texas gal.

And I am never one for violence. I am one, however, for honest education. And that is most certainly not what is happening here.
